7th Boys Basketball Wins, 8th Falls to Jay County

The Norwell Knights 7th grade boys basketball team earned a thrilling 61-58 victory over the Jay County Patriots in a hard-fought matchup on Friday night. The game was a back-and-forth battle, but the Knights' balanced scoring attack ultimately made the difference. Blake Fuess led Norwell with 19 points, while Jace Reinhard added 17 points, including several key baskets in the second half. Gabe Gerber chipped in 9 points, and Wesley Dafforn contributed 6 points to help keep the offense rolling. Reece Goeglein and Paxton Frisch each scored 4 points, and Oakley Bryant added 2 points, with each player making valuable contributions on both ends of the floor. The Knights weathered a late push from the Patriots and held on for the season opening win and gaining momentum for the rest of the season. The Norwell Knights 8th grade boys basketball team was defeated by the Jay County Patriots, 44-32, in a hard-fought matchup on Friday evening. Despite a strong team effort, the Knights struggled to find their rhythm offensively, falling short in the second half. Landon Clark, Titus Jacob, and Maddux Thornton each contributed 5 points to lead Norwell's offense. Benji Lukins added 6 points, while Griffin Bailey chipped in 4. Cody Waldman, Hunter Kurtz, and Miles Daugherty each scored 1, 3, and 2 points, respectively, as the Knights battled throughout the game. Although they cut into an early first half deficit, Jay County's strong defense and timely scoring pulled them ahead in the final quarter, and Norwell couldn't mount a comeback. Both teams will travel to Maple Creek on Tuesday, November 19th for a 5:00pm 7th grade start.
