7th & 8th Girls Basketball Defeat DeKalb

The Norwell Knights 7th grade girls basketball team earned a hard-fought 29–27 victory over the DeKalb Barons on Monday evening, sealed by two clutch free throws from Elissa Rosswurm with just 4.7 seconds remaining. The game was tight from start to finish, with DeKalb leading 5–4 after the first quarter. Norwell responded with a strong second frame to take a 14–13 halftime advantage. The Knights continued to hold a narrow lead through the third, outscoring the Barons 8–6, before DeKalb made a late push in the fourth quarter. With the game tied in the final seconds, Rosswurm stepped to the line and calmly sank both free throws to secure the win for Norwell. Rosswurm led the Knights with 11 points, while Lily Gerdom delivered a big night with 13. Ella Ford and Valerie Lenwell each added 1 point to round out the scoring. The Norwell Knights 8th grade girls basketball team put together a strong all-around performance on Thursday night, defeating the DeKalb Barons 41–24. After a slow start that saw the Knights trail 8–7 after the first quarter, Norwell responded with an impressive 13–5 second-quarter run to take control of the game. The momentum continued after halftime as the Knights outscored DeKalb 10–6 in the third and 11–5 in the fourth to close out the victory. Camryn McCartney led the offensive charge with 17 points, while Piper Krumma added 9 in support. Jahnna Smith scored 6 points, with additional contributions coming from Mercy Meyer (2), Rylie Van’t Hof (2), Emma Moon (3), and Ada Campbell (2). The Knights return to action on Monday, November 24, when they host the New Haven Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m.
